The Month for Dedication to the Joy Path
July 20 to August 28, 2026
Sometimes the word Dedication carries an edge of solemnity. For those who practice the Path of Joy, I’m asking for a shift. Let us practice filling the sense of Dedication with ebullient energetic aliveness. Even fun! What a treat to have a life that makes it possible to practice joy devotedly!
Yes, fear-filled and terrible things are happening in the world; every possible disaster is flooding our awareness. That’s when the practice of joy becomes ever more important. Joy brings a means of sustaining ourselves with enough caring that we can cherish our earth more tenderly, our friends and neighbors and family more gently and perhaps even ourselves with more kindness.
So, during this month, I ask you to look for beautiful surprises all around you. They’re waiting to be celebrated.
Two examples:
Emmy Devine, a dear friend of many years, spends part of her summers on an island off the coast of Maine. It’s an authentic “chop wood, carry water” kind of place enriched with wonderful neighbors and eagerly awaited visits from her family. She shared two occasions this summer which elegantly demonstrate reasons to remain delighted in the practice of joy. Look for surprises.
When Emmy’s two granddaughters visited, the evening brought a perfect double rainbow that embraced them in magic. Celebrate Joy blessing all daughters and granddaughters.
One night when Emmy’s grandsons were visiting the full moon was a red moon; she said even her rays were red and she bathed the waters red. Everyone was entranced. Blessings on all sons and grandsons.
Joy in the World.
And in me.
