#7 Joyful Remembrance 2026

The Month for Joyful Remembrance
August 29 to October 6, 2026

I’m writing this on August 24th, the 100th day since Jean Houston’s death.
Traditionally, this marks a formal closing of mourning and grief.

Were we Chinese, we would, be honoring her now as an Ancestor, creating a tablet to welcome her as a member of that sacred community.

In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, we are blessing the possibility that she is firmly established in her choice for new life.

Whatever the Reality of the Jean who now is, we here are entering another month in the calendar designed for the practice of Joy, a work she inspired. A month for remembering and celebrating Joy.

The easiest way to enjoy that sacred assignment is to fall in love again and again and again. Every day, every where, every moment.

One of Jean’s last comments, when her eyes were all but incandescent with a new light, was, “What do we with a love like this?” Her response to her own question as she gazed toward another realm, “Spread it around, give it away, give it all away.”

So be it.

Joy in the world.
And in me.
Praise. Praise. Praise
